| 800 acres, gently undulating sandy loam. |
Ross and Madeline live with their three boys, Tom 13, Charlie 7, and George 1, at "Quatre Bras" a gently undulating 800 acre property at Buffalo. The family moved from Canberra two years ago, for a change of lifestyle and to continue to operate the property which has been in the Buckley family for many years. Although this has been Madeline's home since childhood, she has lived away for many years, but is now pleased to be back. Her prime focus is her family, and time is spent helping Ross operate a small business from home which had its beginnings in Canberra.
Ross' ultimate aim is to be in the top 10% of beef producers in Gippsland, so operating the farm to its optimal potential. Ross and Madeline's energies have been focussed on many areas including commencing a tree planting programme. They are about to seed an area one kilometre by ten metres with the direct seeding method using indigenous provincial seed. One of their first priorities was to improve the property's water supply and distribution, this need is now serviced by 5 bores and several dams.
They have many plans ahead for Quatre Bras with fencing high on the immediate agenda, as well as increasing stock numbers. They are all very happy with their life in Buffalo and Ross can't believe his luck at living so close to the beach!
Ross is the Meat Industry Development Officer with the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment in Leongatha
