"Wahroonga" at Archies Creek is an exceptional example of the revegetation of an existing waterway that flows through Paul & Annie Chisholm's property - Archies Creek. Extensive tree planting and fencing off has been completed to encourage wildlife to return to its natural habitat, and to keep cattle out of where they once got bogged. Paul has farmed the property for 25 years, and it and adjoining land was owned by his father and grandfather for over 80 years. Originally from Ireland, Annie met Paul whilst backpacking in Kathmandu, and they work as a team to turn off their stock at ten months at a weight between 380 and 420 kgs. They have achieved this previously, and attribute this result to the Friesian milking ability of their beef/dairy X mothers. They aim to produce top pasture to turn off first class vealers, and to maintain consistency in the quality of their animals.
Paul is also setting up a welding business, using both an on-farm workshop and a portable welding unit. Paul enjoys welding which he studied at night school, topping the State in this field in 1982. Annie is a Mathematics tutor to VCE students and until recently taught Mathematics and Biology at Wonthaggi Secondary College. Annie and Paul's relaxation hours are spent bushwalking, snow skiing and touring on their Kawasaki motorbikes. (Paul has a 600 c.c. and Annie as a "P" plater rides a 250 cc) They together also pursue the sport of Rogaining, which is a type of X-Country competitive orienteering. They have three young adult children, 2 boys and a girl. Paul & Annie's enthusiasm and passionate regard for our environment will ensure that their property "Wahroonga" and the beef they produce, will continue to improve as each year passes.
