| 100ha of hill country in the Strezlecki Ranges. The terrain is difficult but due to good pasture management has good species of grasses and grows for most of the year. Despite planting hundreds of trees, parts of the property are exposed and is therefore a harsh environment for cattle over the winter. |
Kerrie and her husband farm a hill property in the Strezlecki Ranges. They are seed stock producers who believe that you must not lose sight of the fact that they are producing a product that will ultimately be for human consumption. Accordingly, production of cattle that will meet market specifications, and be chemical free is a priority. There is a reliance on performance data for selection, both using breedplan and also MSA grading re chiller assessment. Animal performance is pasture based with maximum pasture utilisation achieved by rotational grazing. Knowledge and skills are continually improved by involvement in such courses as storelink, the MSA program and Beefcheque. Kerrie is also a chartered accountant with over 25 years experience specializing in small to medium sized business management and taxation. She has experience in general business law. Kerrie is currently operating her own practice in the Gippsland area with a diversified client base from primary producers to large manufacturers that include companies interstate. Kerrie has been heavily involved with the Beef Improvement Association currently holding the position of President of the local branch.
