The views from David & Linda's farm are stunning. They enjoy 360 degree vistas, with Wilsons Promontory dominating their southerly outlook, and the Strzelecki Ranges to the North. Their Foster property was purchased in 1994 and the Fish Creek farm 20 years before that. Many improvements have been made including tree planting at both venues, and (at Fish Creek) three kilometres of creek fenced off to revegetate and keep stock out. Caring for the environment is high priority at both farms.
David's profession in Veterinary Science (he was the Vet at Leongatha for 18 months, then at Foster for 17 years) is an excellent background for operating grazing properties. Linda is an Occupational Therapist and still works part-time within her profession. Linda is passionate about a glorious paddock of daffodils, inherited from the previous owner who showed them, but Linda is content to pick them for sale at Foster and Leongatha.
At Foster David runs Friesian Bulls for the smallgoods or live export market, and at Fish Creek he grazes Hereford and Angus steers mainly for the export market. His aims and objectives are to develop his property to its optimum efficiency to provide a viable living, and to have regard at all time for the environment. David was a Maths/Science teacher for 15 years, and an enthusiastic local tennis player and coach, but his commitment to his properties preclude him from this activity now. However gazing at the panoramic views from David and Linda's verandah, it is obvious that his workload with pasture improvement, tree planting, and caring for the cattle is made easier with the environment they all share at "Arcadia."
