Ross
and Sue Svenson
|
Ross and Sue Svenson are committed to the environment and to the future of Gippsland. Ross' motto is "Look after the environment first, and the rest falls into place".
Ross and Sue continue to plant trees, although their properties have excellent natural wind breaks. They are conscious of the importance of "thinking environmentally" for the future of farming. Ross has behind him a lifetime involvement in the primary industry of South Gippsland.
Ross is a Councillor for the South Gippsland Shire at Leongatha, and has a deep commitment to foster and protect the region.
He is a developer, the lessee of the South Gippsland Saleyards, and conversant with market trends. He liaises with stock agents and has a close relationship with local farmers. Sue and Ross answer market demands with their cattle and sheep trading, and buy and sell to meet that need. Ross serves on the South Gippsland Economic Development Advisory Committee which works closely with local government to ensure sustainable development for the Gippsland region.
Ross and Sue and their two children Gus 14 and Zel 15, are planning in the future to build a home on their Cape Liptrap property. Of the many sites to choose from, with sweeping views across paddocks to Waratah Bay, they have settled instead on a small rise just above the beach, with a breathtaking view down the coastline, and where the sound of the surf pounding the rocks is ever present.
