Betty Tromp - Neerim

Betty Tromp moved to the beautiful rolling hills in Neerim 16 years ago.
“I bought into my parents' 17 hectare farm and now run the farm by myself as my father passed away recently,” she said.
Betty purchases vealers and runs about 12 to 24 head depending on the season, sometimes a few more.
“The farm is run organically with no chemical fertilisers used.”
“The biodiversity is wonderful, with the gullies planted out to protect the natural spring water and shelterbelts for cattle and pasture protection.”
"The hay fed through winter is cut here on the farm so that I don’t have to buy in winter feed."
“All my cattle are very quiet as I am around them every day.”
“It does make that day when they are sent off to Gippsland Natural just that little bit sadder, but that is the whole idea of a good product - happy and well fed beasts on the farm make for good eating on the plate.”
“That is what I aim for at least,” Betty said.
