Bruce and Judy Mackintosh - Neerim

Being local Gippsland grass-fed beef cattle farmers and selling to a local Gippsland beef cattle business is what Bruce and Judy Mackintosh love to do!
Respect for the animal and respect for the farmer – this shared philosophy is why Bruce and Judy Mackintosh decided to join Gippsland Natural.
Since 2006 the Mackintosh's have farmed a herd of 120 grass-fed Angus breeders on 230 acres at Neerim with the aim of providing the best quality beef possible - well suited for the Gippsland Natural brand.
For the first few years they sold their stock at traditional livestock markets, but when they discovered Gippsland Natural, they were converted.
“In the past at the livestock markets we were disappointed that we didn’t get the recognition and value for the quality of our product.”
"With the help of MSA Grading results, Gippsland Natural is able to give us a premium, due to the top quality of our beef which means a lot to us as farmers."
With a strong focus on genetics, the Neerim farm stocks black Angus cattle following the Te-Mania Blood lines, with the use of stud bulls that have been selected and purchased.
The Mackintosh's management philosophy includes rotational grazing and supply of the best quality of pastures in well-protected, tree-lined paddocks, allowing for ample protection and shade for each animal.
Bruce and Judy feel strongly that Gippsland Natural understand that once an animal is sold, the welfare of each beast is critical. Being processed at a nearby abattoir ensures low stress for the animals and a better quality of beef provided to the purchaser.
Bruce and Judy have always had farming interests in Victoria but really love living in West Gippsland, due to its red soil and the amount of rainfall that enables 12 months of good quality green grass feed for their wonderful Angus cattle.
“In the end Gippsland Natural is about supporting local people.”
