Enviromeat Management System (EMS)
The Gippsland Natural team have developed an environmental management system to ensure our farming practices meet the rigorous international standards of ISO 14001. The system involves identifying the specific environmental challenges and impacts at the farm level, and works towards a do-check-monitor program to help identify solutions or management options for each topic.
We assess the very specific environmental impacts of our farming, and guide procedures to manage and reduce these impacts.
While others claim “sustainability”, we monitor and document farming practices in the areas such as grazing management; soil and fertiliser management; weed and pest management; chemical management; biodiversity and water quality.
In line with our philosophy to strive for continuous improvement, the Gippsland Natural team are currently working to develop policies and practices designed to bolster the existing Enviromeat EMS system by including a module addressing carbon and carbon offsets.
The Enviromeat system has been embraced by our producers for its practicality (having been designed by farmers, for farmers), its immediate benefits to the quality of meat produced, and for the long term benefits sustainable practices will have for their individual farms and the environment more broadly.
